Günther Hasinger Becomes New Director at the IPP
On 1 November 2008 Professor Dr. Günther Hasinger is to take up his appointment as Scientific Director of Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik (IPP) at Garching and Greifswald. Before his new position at the IPP, Günther Hasinger was director at the Max-Planck-Institut für Extraterrestrische Physik (MPE). Hasinger is one of the founding members of the Excellence Cluster Universe and to this day has led the Cluster’s Research Area F „Black Holes“. In the near future, the Universe Cluster and the IPP will install a new working group called „Astrophysics and Plasma Diagnostics“. This new group is intended to strengthen the ties between the IPP’s core research on nuclear fusion and astrophysics.
