Joseph Mohr honored as an American Physical Society Fellow
Joseph Mohr, Professor of Physics and Chair in Cosmology and Structure Formation at LMU and the Excellence Cluster Universe and Associated Chair at MPE has been selected as an American Physical Society (APS) Fellow.
Mohr is one of 11 astrophysicists among the 2010 Fellows, which include well over 100 new Fellows from all areas of physics. Candidate fellows are nominated by existing members of the society. Thus, being elected as an APS Fellow is an honor signifying recognition by one’s professional peers.
The American Physical Society Fellow citation states that Prof. Mohr “has been honored for pioneering the use of x-ray, optical, and radio observations of clusters of galaxies to determine the large-scale properties of the Universe and better understand the emergence of structure, and for his leadership in developing new instruments and observational techniques for this purpose.”
